This was a photo posted online of Joplin, Missouri. In 4 days I’ll take the kids on their summer vacation. I haven’t told them where they’re going, but the water bottles, clothes, towels, toiletries, and other donations are beginning to pile up outside the front door, so they’re getting suspicious. We will pack gloves, masks, and work boots for the six hour drive to Joplin.
The town was devastated by a tornado that took away homes, lives, and jobs, in an instant. Many businesses were destroyed, as the tornado cut through the 12 mile path and ripped through wal mart and several neighborhoods. The town needs a lot of volunteers, to help serve food, search through wreckage, console children, deliver toys and help rebuild the town.I’ll be blogging about the lessons we learn, and the people we meet, each day.
