Running away

This is the donkey I met on my run this morning. I’m wearing purple tights even in the Texas heat because A: snakes and B: I’ll be wearing them in the Creede mountain run.

A lot comes to me on runs. It seems to open up my mind and soul for the best writing material.

Today seeing a random donkey on the woods peering at us was a reminder to embrace the unexpected.
The donkey had a pedigree look about it. The coat was shiny, and the stripes traveling down the side seemed much more zebra ish. Large, black stripes. The donkeys eyes were like big black almonds and he had a gentle soul, even tolerating my friends large dog. They played sweetly.
Take time. Even if you’re running. Whether you’re running from something – or running to it – stop and pet the donkey.
